Big Daddies by the now defunct Mezza and Carrie Stein’s Premier Wines and Spirits’s Blow Out sales both take place this weekend.
Premier’s sale starts on Friday 3rd June from noon until 6pm and Saturday 4th June from 10am until 4pm, with 20% off absolutely everything in their warehouse: rum, vodka, fine wines, everyday drinking wines, you name it; it’s reduced by 20%. Carrie (pictured above with Papagallo's Vico and wine producer Patricio) says that there are some particularly impressive bargains, such as the Cooper’s Creek Sauvignon Blanc 2009, which received 90 points and a great write up by Wine Spectator, selling for half price.
“We’re getting a few exciting new brands in over the next few months so we need to make some room in the warehouse, hence the blow out sale,” she says. Premier is also expanding into the warehouse next door, so they’re trying to reduce inventory to give them room to manoeuvre.
For me, I’ll be heading for her Cono Sur range from Chile, which has always rated really well in any blind tasting of value wines that I’ve participated in. They have an excellent range of wines, from Sauvignon Blanc to Merlot, Pinot Noir to Cab, all at between 20% and 30% off. I’ll also be stocking up on the excellent Renacer range from Argentina, featured at the Papagallos wine dinner from earlier this year, particularly the Enamore, now at just CI$19.91 a bottle and a steal for such a delicious Amarone-inspired wine.
If you call Carrie on 943 3333 or email her before-hand firstname.lastname@example.org she’ll have everything ready for you for pick up on Friday. Now that’s what I call service.
They, too, are making space for new brands that they will be picking up over the summer, so it’s a great time to stock up. Big Daddy’s sale is for one day only – next Saturday 4th June from 10am until 7pm (not that there is likely to be much left by then…) and they are offering savings of up to a whopping 75% on wines.
Jodie Petts, Cayman Distributer’s wine manager (pictured right) says they’ll have popular labels such as Rosemount, Fat Bastard and Clos du Bois at just CI$10. Jodie says the “stand out” wines are the EarthQuake wines at CI$20, (at a 70% discount) and are a really good buy. Not giving too much away, she also says that there will be “a few French gems” thrown in at CI$15, so I guess you’ll just have to go and have a rummage around for yourselves. See you there!
