We are just spoilt for choice this month when it comes to food and wine events. Kicking the weekend off with a spot of rum isn’t really news on this island; however Breezes by the Bay’s Mojito Mystique event definitely takes the enjoyment of this ubiquitous spirit up a notch or two. The evening takes place on Friday 27th May and is sponsored by Jacques Scott. Touted as a “sinful night of rum overload” the event lets rum lovers enjoy its five mojito stations for free (after they pay the CI$25 entry fee, naturally!) I first encountered this event during January’s Cayman Cookout event (see left for the lovely Mojita Mumma that shook up a storm of Mojitos for me then) and it was woefully under-attended, even though the organisers seem to have gone to a great deal of trouble with the décor, nibbles and the Mojito recipes. Hopefully this time around they’ll pack ‘em in, for the Mojitos (try the original recipe, by far the best) are a delight. You can sample Mojitos made with all your fave rums: Mount Gay, Havana Club, Appleton and Zacapa, so there's no excuse not to partipate!.
